Amanda Owen The Yorkshire Shepherdess!

The summary on the cover is "How I left city life behind to raise a family and a flock" = feel this might be better as "raise a flock and some sheep", from a pun point of view!

Didn't put this book down till I had finished it - Amanda writes well and very entertainingly - which I find all the more impressive in that she found the time with 7 children and a large working farm which is more than full time job on its own!

I personally found the section where she grows up in Huddersfield and feels the calling for the farming way of life - and sets her mind to it and learns everything she can taking what work comes her way. Farming is a way of life which tends to be something you grow up with and to be accepted into a farming community takes hard work and the development of respect - animals need looking after, feeding and retrieving no matter what is going on or how crummy you are feeling!

I wish Amanda and Clive all the best with their new accommodation venture as well as the continuing popularity of their Cream Teas.
