The Story starts with the murder of 1 lady and pulls Lord Edgington a former police officer and his grandson into the fray determined to ferret out the murderer. Will admit its a little slow to get going compared to other similar stories - but more than makes up for it with cunning plot twists and small side adventures. All in all a pleasant read.

For the uninitiated Yorkshire has been the inpiration for many Murder Mystries over the years and this new book ( on audio, paperback and kindle) joins it fellows for a cosy murder based in the Yorkshire Dales. Most of the book is set within a stones throw of Harrogate with the main detective Inspector Frank Grasby being dragged from his assignement in York to a sleepy Yorkshire Village - or is it? spies, murder, crime - all in the style of the Golden age of crime set just after the 2nd World War.

To start 2024 I thought that a Murder Mystry at a New Years Eve Party would be just the thing. Benedict Brown and his Detective Marius Quin are new to me though its reminicant of Agatha Christie and her fellow Golden Age of Crime Writers. To sum up Marius meets as if by chance his old Girlfriend Lady Isabella Montague and is invited to an exclusive New Years Eve party. There are film stars, background of financial impropriety and so the plot thickens. I followed the Audio book as its handy when you are making beds and was very well done. So a recommened read for those who are looking for a book in the cosy crime genre.
