One thing that’s becoming increasingly associated more and more with our great county is our wonderful food and drink suppliers who work tirelessly to tantalise our taste buds with new and exciting flavours and recipes, one thing’s for sure our food and drink aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Our county delivers not only the raw ingredients but the end products made with their own fair hands.
One group who have taken promoting Yorkshire’s bounty seriously is Deliciously Yorkshire who have many members covering where to buy home grown ingredients, where to purchase items such as Icecream made from local milk and working with restaurants, café’s and B&B’s all of which believe in shopping and serving locally. Over the last ten years Deliciously Yorkshire have blended together all aspects of the food industry by acting as a “glue” and bringing all together to celebrate and bring the best out of each other under deliciously Yorkshires membership banner. Some of the foods that we are renowned for are Yorkshire pudding, Wensleydale cheese, rhubarb and we also have an ever-growing industry in micro-breweries which includes Daleside brewery. Daleside are based in Harrogate and they produce premium beers and ales using quality local ingredients – for more information you can see their website www.dalesidebrewery.com. The Organic Pantry who are based in Tadcaster in North Yorkshire grow a fabulous range of organic salad and vegetables, they deliver to customers throughout the north east of England and are proud to deliver impeccable service and quality whilst looking after the surroundings and local environment, you can visit their website at www.theorganicpantry.co.uk. These are just two instances of great people who deliver a great product whilst promoting Yorkshire as it should be. One of the areas Deliciously Yorkshire is keen to promote is their Breakfast Scheme of which we are a member – each participant must have at least 6 items within their breakfast offer which are sourced within the boundaries of Yorkshire. For ourselves we are proud to serve Harrogate Honey, Muesli from Driffield, Bacon from Wetherby, Sausages from the local butcher who sources his wares entirely from Nidderdale and are made entirely from pork. We are also pleased to add to our selection from October 2014 Organic free range milk, Butter and eggs from the lovely people at Acorn Dairy and we also get our jam and preserves from The Fruity Kitchen in York, our rapeseed oil comes from wharfe valley farms who make fabulous varieties of oils for cooking and salads.
