Sophie Hannah continues her work with character Hercule Poirot (with authorisation from the Agatha Christie Estate) bringing back to life new adventures with this familier character and new addition Edward Catchpool of Scotland Yard. This offering was listened to by me on Audio book and was narated by Julian Rhind-Tutt who always presents a clear and interesting performance - single narrator but performed the characters each with their own individual characteristics. This is a story with various twists in the tail - 2 seperate murders - one before we meet the cast and one after. I personally feel some details were held back or only brought to the fore at the end meaning the reader had no clue who or why there were the murders - but feel that is par for the course for this type of mystery. I would recommend it as falling into Golden Era of crime style and Cosy Crime genre's.

For those who arn't fans of Riverdale - Camila Mendes is a rising star and her latest film gave #Harrogate a good showing with all the scenes with Will coaching his team the Lions shot on the Harrogate Stray (large open parkland) as well as the scene where Ana sits on a bench and gets paint on her skirt. We are proud to work with film companies and other films shot locally inclulde Nandor Fodor and The Talking Mongoose with Simon Pegg and of course the new seasons of All Creatures Great and Small. We were also proud to welcome Henry Cavill to Harrogate with the amazing Witcher team when they filmed large parts of Season 2 at Fountains Abbey during bad weather and multiple night shoots - though leading to majestic and beautiful Abbey shots.

Grane Cafe opened this week on Station Parade harrogate. This new independant Coffee house, specialist food shop and purveyor of artizan chocolates is bringing something new to the independant coffee house scene. I thoroughly enjoyed the passion fruit valentines chocolates (as shown in the picture) and there were lots of lovely treats on display.

In this return to the Genre of what in my opinion is a Cosy Crime style mystry we have The Christmas Guest. Starting off in the old tradition of a country house murder mystry this compelling story changes from 1 murder and a country house cast. However in a technique I have not seen before there is twist with the murderer, twist in the cast and a twist in the narrator and it is very well done. This book is avaliable in paper back, Kindle and Audible.

Those with keen eyes spotted up and coming star #Camila Mendes filming in #Harrogate last year for the soon to be released (9th Feb) film Upgraded. This film which has overtones of Working Girl (Harrison Ford and Melanie Griffith 1988) where in taking her boss's seat in first class she fools a fellow traveller concerning her position. Hilarity ensues. Filmed almost exclusively in the UK.
