In 1950 Agatha Christie launched A murder is Announced through the Collins Crime Club (a mail order book catalogue/club). It was heavily promoted as being her 50th book published in the same year (1950). Miss Marple one of her two main detectives returns to the fray picking through an entangled cast of characters. Our story starts with an unusual advert in the village paper "A Murder is Announced" at Little Paddocks - but what does it mean? Our cast comprises of Edmund the intellectual writer, Phillipa the single mother or is she? Miss Hinchliffe who runs the local black market, Colonel Easterbrook - the retired Army officer from India, Patrick Simmons student recently moved in with his aunt, Julia training at the local hospital, Letitia Blacklock owner of little paddocks who only moved there after her sisters death and last but not least Mitzi a war refugee. So a housefull of strangers to the area, non of whom have been long term residents or who are known to the others by sight. Our cast assemble as intrigued by the announcement until suddenly the lights go out, a voice shouts "Stick them UP" and shots are fired!
