On the 24, 25th & 26th of May the stunning estate at Harewood House hosts the Great British Food Festival, as well as over 80 top local producers, fantastic chef demos, artisan talks, kids and adult cookery lessons, and great live music there is the popular ‘Cake Off’ competition and ‘Men v Food’ challenges which you can get involved with! Fancy yourself as a bit of a baker, is your cake the best around? Then why not enter The Great British ‘Cake Off’, simply register which category you are going for online beforehand (www.greatbritishfoodfestival.com), will it be the classic Victoria Sponge, the yummy ‘Chocolate Delicious’ or the ‘Signature Cake’? Then all you need to do is get practising! The judging is split between public and expert voting, with the on looking crowd getting to try lots of the cakes. Finalist from the popular Great British Bake Off series on BBC1, Howard Middleton is one of the expert judges, ‘I’m really looking forward to seeing and tasting all the different cakes!’ Said Howard, who is also doing a chef demo. Winners from the cake off will take home a fantastic foodie prize - and best of all, all entrants get free admission to the festival! Baking not your thing? How about taking on the Men Vs Food Challenge? This year challengers will be taking on either the Men V’s Meat, Men V’s Heat or the Men V’s Wheat challenge. The various challenges are open to all Men and Women and involve a foot of chilli sausage, half pound burgers, extra hot ‘suicide sauce’ and pints of cider to name just a few. Man V Food organiser Tim Rushton says ‘We’ve done this a few times now and it’s always entertaining, the hot sauces are a struggle for most! Lots don’t finish it! If you think you can, then get down to the event on the Bank Holiday weekend and the crowd acclaim and a Man V Food Champion t-shirt could be yours!’ For those who fancy a more relaxing day out, just sit back and enjoy the great live music with a tasty meal, in the beautiful surroundings of Harewood House...
