Baltzersen's add a Scandinavian option to the Harrogate dinner scene.

Baltzersen's joined the independent café scene in September 2012 and has proved popular with both locals and visitors with its Scandinavian inspired menu and décor - walk through the doors and you are greeted by the lush smell of coffee and scrummy pastries.

Paul the owner now feeling confident in his restaurant's success during the lunch time and breakfast windows has now announced that they are launching an evening menu with the name Nord -ie a North Yorkshire ingredients with a Scandinavian twist menu. To aid him in this new endeavour Paul has hired as his executive head chef Murray Wilson who has previously worked at Van Zellers and Hotel Du Vin and they have also brought in new suppliers R&J Butchers and Taylors Seafood to enhance the offer.

There will also be  craft beers, wine and a selection of cocktails to compliment the new menu.

Nord's menu concept is to do away with the traditional starter main and dessert menu and bring in  a highly seasonal 6-8 dishes and 2 desserts - this will make sure the dish gets the best ingredients at their peak at that time, clients will be encouraged to have as few or as many of these dishes as suits them - making it an excellent choice for groups or couples with different size appities - or for sharing between

We went for the tasting evening and I can highly recommend the Venison if that is on the menu for the week you are in Harrogate. The menu will change on a weekly basis so its best to check in for a copy or look on the web site for this week's selection.

I would also mention that Baltzersens is dog friendly during the day which is unusual in Harrogate.
